Begin. A simple five letter verb, yet in practice, so hard to do at times. Whether we are overcome with fear, excitement, self-doubt, or even allowing ourselves to become distracted from the goal, we can all agree that simply ‘beginning’, is not always as easy as it sounds. But, if you really want it; exploring that country you’ve always wanted to, trying that new dish, getting into that relationship, or going for that perfect job, you must let all of the aforementioned go, or use it as energy, to begin. That is why I am here, that is why you are reading this because I decided to begin something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now, which is to start this, a travel and lifestyle blog. I hope that along the way, as I share my travels and other life experiences, you too are encouraged to start something new. Cheers to new beginnings and all that it entails.

So, why Whilstaway, as opposed to my more common handle of Noirewayfarer?

Well, the ensuing collection of blogs, varying from travel, food, or general lifestyle posts, have happened, or will happen, whilst I am away; in a new country, state (U.S), city or even while I’m away in my head, so far in thoughts that I could practically be 54.6 million kilometers away on Mars. That’s actually the minimum distance of travel, between our blue planet and the red planet. (Fun fact)

So, come away with me; let’s gaze in awe at the Cidade Maravilhosa, while on an elevation of 710 meters, let’s be reminded of our past and how far we’ve come as we stroll through the former slave grounds at, Cape Coast Castle. Explore the misty citadel of the not so “Lost City of the Incas”, take a camel ride through the oldest surviving World Wonder, and let yourself be pulled into the Atlantic ocean from the shores of Bathsheba. The Whilstaway journey is afoot and I am thrilled to have you here!
